Long before the pandemic hit, women disproportionately shouldered the burdens of caregiving. They watched after our elderly relatives, cared for our children, and worked in our hospitals. They did more with less, again and again. And now, as COVID cases decline and vaccination rates rise, we see that throughout the pandemic, women have been holding us together — yet again, rising up, doing double, triple shifts to support the well-being of their families and their communities.
Join us to honor the work of ParentChild+ home visiting staff, who are primarily women and have been on the front lines providing essential care to young families in their communities that have been hit the hardest over the past year — from the rise in racist attacks to the health and economic impacts of COVID-19, leaving so many without income, food or housing stability. These incredible women are not only ParentChild+’s home visiting staff, but many are program graduates as well.
On Tuesday evening, July 13th, we’ll come together to hear frontline stories from these phenomenal women, watch inspiring performances and learn how investing in family care and early education is critical to unlocking pathways for women. Because by investing in the potential and power of women, we see healthier children, stronger families and thriving communities.
Together we’ll issue a powerful call for transformation to put caregivers front and center, and invest in the support system that gives women, their families and communities equal possibilities from the start. If there’s anything we’ve learned during this pandemic, it’s that care must come first. It’s time we put it front and center.
ParentChild+ is a national non-profit organization that uses early education and school readiness to support families living in marginalized communities and facing the largest opportunity gaps.
The program, led by community-based home visiting staff, including many  parents who graduated from the program, is an intimate, culturally and linguistically rich model, centered around supporting parents’ in their role as their children’s first and most important teachers.
